Ingredients: 4 pears (or apples), peeled 1/2 cup pure maple syrup (not processed please!) 1 tsp cinnamon Juice of 1/2 lemon Pinch of Sea salt   Directions: You can use a slow cooker or very  low heat in an oven.  For a crock pot, set heat to low,  For oven, preheat to 175-200 degrees.  Peel pears (or apples) and slice bottom to flatten to help them stand upright.  Then, pierce pears (apples) several times on top and sides with a fork being careful to keep the fruit intact.  Place in a slow cooker or oven-safe dish that is the height of the pears (apples). In a mixing bowl, combine syrup, cinnamon, lemon juice and sea salt and stir until blended. Pour mixture over fruit, trying to get mixture in the pierced holes.  Cover and cook for 3 hours.  When complete, you may add a little crunch by adding your favorite nuts or seeds.  I love to sprinkle pumpkin seeds on top.  Just beware of the seeds in the core and discard when eating.
